Cooperative words

random words couples projected on text

Introduction

Interactive and collaborative experience using a laser traking system and a floor + wall projector.

Made for a hackathon at Museo Scienza's Future Inventors Lab (Milano). The work was supervied by professor Gerhard Funk of Linz Art University (click to know more).

The Future Inventors Lab has a smaller version of Ars Electonica's Deep Space 8K and it is called Cooperative Aesthetics. The goal of the hackathon was to develop an interactive experience that could leverage said projector's capabilities.

The result is a cooperative experience where you as a player have a letter assigned to you and you have to find out which word starts with such letter. The only way you can find out is if you go near another player and then you will both see your words in front of you close to eachother. See the videos below to get a better grasp (no audio).

The process

It was a team project. The members were:

  • Gianluca Rubino
  • Pierpaolo Grandinetti
  • Natalia Polvani

I was responsible for the main program logic.

The implementation is written in Processing using the TUIO library to interface with the projector.
